Class: The Mastery Class I: Comprehensive Hands-On | New York, NY
Class Description:
We believe that preparation is just as important as the cut itself. Because of that, for the first time in Curated Cutting history, we have decided to add in a comprehensive blow dry prep portion to the class that includes proper sectioning techniques. This will allow you to fully understand the ins and outs of how to prepare the haircut, just as Anh does for each client behind the chair.
The two cuts that will be taught in The Mastery Class I are named the Long Movement cut and Med-Length Shag. The Long Movement cut is your most versatile cut. This technique can be used on all lengths, but we will be focusing on longer lengths for this class. We will start off with prepping the cut with Milbon products and blow drying techniques that add enough cushion to support the cut and style. After this cut, you will learn more about the styling approach that we take to give our cuts that ‘90s look.
For the second and last cut of the day, we’ll move onto the Med-Length Shag. This will also be prepped in the same method as the first cut. For this look, we will be implementing cutting techniques that release weight and give movement. The finished cut will be then styled with Combo Waves using either a marcel iron or flat iron.

The two short haircuts that we will dive deeper into in The Mastery Class II are the Collarbone Texture cut and the Neo Bob. The first haircut, the Collarbone Texture cut, was developed to answer the need for more education on how to cut a modern and fresh version of a “Shaggy Pixie”. For this haircut, we will be starting with the hair damp. Once the haircut is finished, we will transition into dry cutting for customizing the haircut. Afterwards, there will be a chance to go deeper into styling this collarbone cut to give it the classic Lived-in look.
For the second hair cutting technique for the Neo Bob you will transition into dry cutting. The Neo Bob is a call back to the classic bob but it adds a contemporary twist that will allow the cut to be worn straight, air dried, or styled. We will be starting the Neo Bob by drying and prepping the hair with Milbon products. The layering techniques that are taught will give movement and wearability to the style. Afterwards, we will be introducing more styling techniques and curling patterns with the marcel iron with some Combo Waves.
