Modern Interpretation of Tradition: The Sagegami
For the first time in three years, Anh had the opportunity to organize and execute a mesmerizing commercial and editorial shoot, capturing the essence of Milbon’s birthplace.
Join us as we embark on a journey and explore four distinct looks inspired by Anh’s remarkable expedition to Nakagawa in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan that showcase Anh’s modern interpretation of breaking boundaries while also harnessing the traditional essence of Japan.
Continue below to learn more about Anh’s steps to create the third look!
This specific look was inspired by a traditional Japanese Sagegami. Anh was inspired by the sleek effortlessness of this traditional hairstyle.
STEP 1
Starting off with damp hair, Anh applied a bit of Milbon’s Luminous Bodifying Oil to her ends for added smoothness and shine
STEP 2
Next, he sprayed the hair with a bit of Milbon’s Texturizing Sea Mist 3 from midshaft to ends to enhance the texture of the end result.
STEP 3
He then created a radial section part and split the hair from ear to ear to separate the front and the back, followed by creating a deep side part.
STEP 4
With the hair now being split into 4 parts, Anh took the 2 back sections and created a ponytail.
STEP 5
Now with his focus on the front section with the most hair, Anh carefully spread the hair onto the face and secured it to the ponytail.
STEP 6
Anh then took the entire ponytail and created a slight nu-wave with a 1.5-inch Pro Marcel Iron for a soft and effortless effect.
STEP 7
To finish the look off, he sprayed the hair with Milbon’s Strong Hold Hairspray 7 for a long-lasting, lightweight hold.
